An LED mirror can transform a bathroom… provided it is the right size and at the right height. Too small, it disappears above the vanity; too large, it overwhelms the room. Here are our simple rules for choosing the size of your LED mirror and placing it correctly above the sink.
The golden rule: the width of the vanity
The most reliable guide is the width of your vanity.
- The mirror should not be wider than the vanity. Ideally, it is slightly narrower, by a few centimeters on each side.
- For a single-sink vanity measuring 60 to 80 cm, a round mirror with a diameter of 60 to 70 cm is an excellent choice. This is the case with the 70 cm round mirrors in our range.
- For a vanity measuring 100 cm or more, opt for a large rectangular or organically shaped mirror, such as the Aria, or two identical round mirrors above a double sink.
Round, rectangular, or teardrop-shaped?
- A round mirror softens a very boxy bathroom (square tiles, straight vanity). It adds a decorative and warm touch. See the Nova or the Diamant.
- A rectangular mirror offers the largest reflection area: ideal for applying makeup or shaving.
- Organic shapes (teardrop, arch) provide a more contemporary and original style.
At what height should the mirror be mounted?
Two guidelines are enough:
- The bottom of the mirror is generally placed between 15 and 25 cm above the sink or faucet to avoid splashes and leave room for the mixer tap.
- The center of the mirror should be approximately at eye level for users, around 1.60 m from the floor for an average-height adult.
If several people of very different heights use the bathroom, opt for a taller mirror so that everyone can see themselves clearly.
Checks before drilling
- The power supply: our LED mirrors connect to a 220 V supply. Plan for a cable outlet or junction box behind the mirror so that no wires are visible.
- The distance from the shower or bathtub: in bathrooms, the NF C 15-100 standard regulates electrical appliances based on their distance from water. If in doubt, ask an electrician for advice.
- The wall: check the type of wall (plasterboard, concrete, tiles) to choose the right wall plugs.
- The level: a slightly tilted mirror is immediately noticeable, especially with LED lighting.
Choosing the right lighting
Size is not everything: lighting matters just as much. Choose a mirror with several color temperatures (warm, neutral, and cool light): warm for a relaxing atmosphere, neutral for makeup, and cool for shaving. The anti-fog function is also a real plus after a shower. We explain these criteria in detail in our anti-fog LED mirror guide.
In summary
- A mirror slightly narrower than the vanity.
- The bottom 15–25 cm above the sink, the center at eye level.
- A shape that balances your room: round to soften, rectangular for surface area.
- A power supply planned behind the mirror.
